6 + 1.6 = 7.6

perimeter = 7.6 x 4 = 30.4

Area = 7.6 x 7.6 = 57.76

Answer:

Perimeter of the new box is 30.4 cm

Area of the new box is 57.76 cm²

Explanation:

Jordan made a wooden square box, all sides of the wooden box are 6cm. If he wants to increase the length of all sides by 1.6, what will be perimeter and area of the new box?

From the question; all the side of the wooden box is 6 cm, if she increases all side by 1.6, then the sides become; 6 cm + 1.6 cm = 7.6 cm

Since all the sides are 7.6 cm, then perimeter = L + L + L + L

=7.6cm +7.6cm +7.6cm+7.6cm

=30.4cm

or

perimeter of a square = 4L

= 4 × 7.6cm

= 30.4 cm

Therefore the perimeter of the new box is 30.4 cm

To find the area;

l = 7.6 cm

Area of a square = l × l

= 7.6 cm × 7.6 cm

=57.76 cm²

Therefore area of the new box is 57.76 cm²
