need to convert to the same unit of measure 3 ft / 1yd= 8 ft/ x yds cross multiply x= 2 2/3 yds 12 in = 1/3 yd added to 2 2/3 yds answer is 3 yds hope this helps

3 feet=1 yard
36 inches=1 yard
8 feet=2
of a yard
12 inches=1/3 of a yard.
