the least common multiple of 8 and 9 is 72.
2/8 x (9/9) = 18/72
3/9 x (8/8) = 24/72

We can convert both of them to denominators of 72.
2 * 9 = 18
8 * 9 = 72
3 * 8 = 24
9 * 8 = 72
So we have:
18/72 + 24/72
Then we just add the numerators.
