First, add 2 to both sides, and you get z/3 = 14. Then multiply 3 to both sides. 3 x 14 = 42, so we have z = 42. :)

Subtract 2 to both sides:

-z/3 = 10

Multiply 3 to both sides:

-z = 30

Multiply -1 to both sides:

z = -30
