Divide.

1 2/3 / 1/3

Or multiply by its reciprocal 3/1:

1 2/3 * 3/1

Convert 1 2/3 into an improper fraction:

5/3 * 3/1 = 15/3 = 5

Every
(1)/(3) mile, there is a place to rest

The trail is
1 (2)/(3) miles long

Change the length of the trail into an improper fraction

1 (2)/(3) = (5)/(3) | which you get by multiplying the 1 and three then add the to and place it over three

Now you divide the length of the trail by the length of the places for breaks

(5)/(3)÷
(1)/(3) |flip flop the second fraction then multiply

(5)/(3) * (3)/(1)=
(15)/(3)

Now divide the numerator (to) by the denominator (bottom)

15÷3=5

Answer:

There are five places to rest along the trail
