Given : Raina will rent a car for the weekend.

The cost of the first plan : $49 and costs an additional $0.11 per mile driven.

The cost of the second plan: $42 and costs an additional $0.13 per mile driven.

Let the number of the miles driven = m

So, the cost of the first plan = 0.11 m + 49

The cost of the second plan = 0.13 m + 42

For what amount of driving do the two plans cost the same?

So, equating the two costs:

\begin{gathered} 0.13m+42=0.11m+49 \\ 0.13m-0.11m=49-42 \\ 0.02m=7 \\ \\ m=(7)/(0.02)=350 \end{gathered}

So, the number of miles = 350 miles

what is the cost when the two plans cost the same?

The cost will be = 0.11 * 350 + 49 = $87.5
