Explanation:

6/2=3, so we have 3х = х+32, where x is number of sweets that gets David.

3x = x + 32, so 2x = 32, so x = 32 / 2 = 16

Finally, Dan gets 16 / 2 * 5 = 8*5 = 40 sweets.
