Along with carbon, the ‘bulk elements’ for living organisms are oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen. Glucose, which is an essential biochemical molecule, is a hydrocarbon made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. These four elements make up 96% of the body.
