We want to simplify:

8x-4(x-1)

For doing so, we use the distributive property, and we get:

8x-(4x-4)

And we break the parenthesis to obtain:

8x-4x+4

Lastly, we simplify the similar terms and we get:

4x+4

This means that the expression simplified is 4x+4.
