Can human service corporations care for the poor and multi-problem clients while continuing to generate profits? What ethical issues are involved?

It is believed by many that services that help the needy and poor cannot be left to the free market alone, without government intervention. This is because there simply aren't enough profits to be made from helping the poor, so companies will inherently cut corners and deliver poor service to the needy, in order to gain the most profits.
