To find

Which of the following lists the stages in the life cycle of a sun-like star in order?

Step-by-step explanation

As a cloud of gas run into each other, heat energy is produced. Thus the warm clump of molecules form known as Protostar.

Then the temperature increases and reaches a point where fusion takes place. Here the hydrogen atom fuses to form helium atom and thus gives out a lot of heat and light in the process. The stars at this phase is known as main sequence star.

As the hydrogen fuel runs out and no more fusion can take place so the star contracts inward due to gravity and then expands .As it expands it becomes a red giant.

Then the iron fusion starts and in turn absorbs energy which causes the core to collapse.

Then the stars with smaller mass contracts to form white dwarf.

Conclusion

The sequence is

C. Protostar, main sequence, red giant, white-dwarf
