The plants looses extra water not in use through the process of transpiration. The transpirated water comes over the surface of aerated parts. The transpirated water get evaporated in the form of water vapor. The water vapors get accumulated in the atmosphere where these vapors condense to form clouds. These clouds form precipitates in the forn of rain, or snow. This way water again becomes part of the earth surface. If the vegetation cover is reduced in a region it directly affects the water cycle.

Carbon cycle is also regulated by plants. The plants absorb the atmospheric carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas which is a capable of raising the global temperature causing global warming. Hence, the abundance of plants and vegetation cover will reduce the effects of global warming.
