Week Number of Miles Run 1 12.5 2 13.5 Each week, Matthew increases the number of miles he runs in the previous week by the same percent. How many miles does Matthew run in week 3? I think the only way to properly create a back to back stem plot here is to convert meters to feet or feet to meters. The conversion is 1 ft = 12 in = 30.48 cm = .3048 meters. Since this is a guesstimate, you could also say that a foot is about 1/3 of a meter, and divide all feet values by 3. Then create a back to back with the new values, rounded to nearest whole number. Hope this helps

Answer:

Mathew runs in 3rd week = 14.58 miles

Explanation:

Mathew is training to participate in a half marathon.

In week 1 he runs 12.5 miles.

Similarly he runs 13.5 miles in week 2.

So the difference in distance he runs from week 1 to week 2 is

13.5 - 12.5 = 1 mile

Now % difference in distance from week 1 to week 2

=
(1)/(12.5)* 100

= 8%

Now it is given in the question that Mathew increases the same percent of distance to run in every successive week.

So increase of distance in third week = 8% of 13.5 miles

=
(8)/(100)(13.5)=1.08 miles

Distance to run in 3rd week = 13.5 + 1.08 = 14.58 miles
