And, as you can see, in point of spelling, abbreviated forms of words can be written both in capital or not letters like, etc/a. s. o, while Acronyms are in capital letters only. Also, abbreviations make use of the punctuation mark of 'dot'.

Acronyms and abbreviations are both ways of shortening words and phrases to make life a bit easier.
Abbreviations are more of a contracted version of a word, such as Dr. for Doctor, Mr. for Mister, or lb for pound.
Acronyms are abbreviations of phrases that are pronounced like words. Some of these are NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), and Scuba (Self-contained underwater breathing apparatus).
