Solve the sum by adding like terms, those are the ones that have the same variable raised to the same power.

In this case, add 2x^2 to 2x^2, 4x to 3x and 1 to 4:

\begin{gathered} 2x^2+4x+1+(2x^2+3x+4) \\ 2x^2+2x^2+4x+3x+1+4 \\ 4x^2+7x+5 \end{gathered}

The answer is 4x^2+7x+5.
