Is the function in the table linear or nonlinear and why?

x : -2, 0, 2, 4, 6

y : 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

A) The function is linear because the y-intercept is 0.

B) The function is linear because there is a constant rate of change.

C) The function is linear because all the y values are positive.

D) The function is not linear because there is a negative x value

B) The function is linear because there is a constant rate of change.

'cause we can see x = 0-(-2) = 2 for y = 10-5 =5
& 2-0 = 2 for y = 15-10 = 5

So, for all 2 values of x, y is increasing by 5. This pattern can be observe in whole series.

Hope this helps!

B) The function is linear because there is a constant rate of change.

Every time 'x' increases by 2, 'y' increases by 5 .
The constant rate of change is 5/2 (or 2.5).
If you had a graph of this function, it would be a straight line,
and the slope of the line would be 2.5 .
