A tangent intersects a circle at only one point, while a chord intersects the circle at two points. Also, a chord is contained within a circle, but a tangent is outside the circle, except for the point of tangency, which lies on the circle. This is the sample answer from E2020.

Answer with explanation:

Tangent--

We know that a tangent is a straight line that touches a curved surface or some curve at exactly one point.

Or in short we may say that it just touches the curve.

Chord--

In geometry a chord is a straight line segment whose both end points lie on any curve.

for example:

The diameter of a circle is also a chord of a circle.

This could also be seen with the help of a figure.
