Notice that due to the fact that two parallel lines are itersected by a transversal, it generales congruent angles <2 , <3 , <6 and <7

Then the measure of angle <7 must equal the measure of <2, That is:

<7 = <2 = 3 y - 8

<7 = 3 y - 8

The SAME measure of that for angle <2 because they are "corresponding angles between parallel lines".

If they give you an answer option that reads 3 y - 8, please select it.
