\begin{gathered} f(x)=x-8 \\ g(x)=4x^2 \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} (f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x) \\ (f+g)(x)=(x-8)+4x^2 \\ (f+g)(x)=x-8+4x^2 \\ (f+g)(x)=4x^2+x-8 \end{gathered}

The resultant function is a parabola which doesn't have any restriction over its domain, therefore, the domain is:

D\colon(-\infty,\infty)
