first you distribute the 3
(3x-12) (x+5)=0
then you set each equation equal to zero
3x-12=0 & x+5=0
then you solve for x
x =4, -5

Answer:

-5, 4

Explanation:

the solutions to the equation
3(x - 4)(x + 5) = 0

To solve for x we set each factor =0 and solve for x

3(x-4)=0

divide each term by 3

(x-4)=0

Add 4 on both sides

x=4

x+5=0

Subtract 5 on both sides

x=-5

So x values are -5 and 4
