I have three numbers. The biggest one is twice the middle one, and the biggest one plus the middle one is four times the smallest one. The smallest one plus the middle one is two less than the biggest one. What are the numbers? ...?

A= 16; B= 8; C= 6

A = 2B
4C = 2B + B = 3B
C = 3/4B

B + C = A-2
B + 3/4B = 2B - 2
B = 8

Let

x------> the biggest number

y------> the middle number

z------> the smallest number

we know that

x=2y -------> equation
1

x+y=4z -------> equation
2

z+y=x-2 -------> equation
3

substitute equation
1 in equation
2 and equation
3

[2y]+y=4z ------>
3y=4z ------> equation
4

z+y=[2y]-2 ---->
z+2=y ------> equation
5

using a graph tool-----> to resolve the system of equations

see the attached figure

the solution is the point
(6,8)

z=6\\y=8

Find the value of x

x=2y

x=2*8=16

therefore

the answer is

the biggest number is
16

the the middle number is
8

the smallest number is
6

I have three numbers. The biggest one is twice the middle one, and the biggest one-example-1
