From the pythagorean theoream, we know that:


\begin{gathered} AB^2=AC^2+CB^2 \\ 12^2=5^2+CB^2 \\ 144=25+CB^2 \\ CB^2=144-25 \\ CB=\sqrt[]{144-25} \\ CB=10.9 \end{gathered}

Now that we have the measure of CB, remember that the tangent relationship of a right triangle is opposite side/ adjacent side of the angle:


\tan (B)=(5)/(10.9)
