Parent function:

y=5^(-x)

Transformations:

y=a*5^(bx-h)+k

If a is negative it is a reflection across x-axis

If b is negative (change of symbol of x variable) it is a reflection across the y-axis

If h is positive it is a translation h units to the left

If h is negative it is a translation h units to the right

If k is positive it is a translation k units up

If k is negative it is a translation k units down

Given expressions and corresponding transfomation are:

1.

y=5^x

x-variable change of symbol: Reflected across the y-axis

2.

y=5^(-x)+5

k = +5: Translated up by 5 units

3.

y=5^(-x-5)

h= -5: Translated right by 5 units

4.

y=5^(-x+5)

h= +5 : Translated left 5 units

5.

y=-5^(-x)

a: negative: Reflected across the x-axis

6.

y=5^(-x)-5

k: -5: Translated down by 5 units
