An Identity is an equation which will always be true irrespective of any values that may be substituted into the variables.

For the equation I, notice that this is not true as you can substitute y=2 and x=1 and the equation will not hold. Hence, Equation I is not an identity.

Equation II is not also an Identity as the equation is only true for x=n
