If you put (parentheses) around a negative number does it turn positive? Because I don't understand how -4-(-7) equals 3. We have to diagram it with integer tiles, and I do not understand. Please help! Thnx!❤️

well if your subtracting two negative numbers you can

1 make the problem go from -x-(-y) to x-y

or

2 make the problem go from -x-(-y) go to -x+ y

because two - signs x out each other.
does that make sense?

-4-(-7)=3 because when two negatives are next to each other they make a positive. So the actual eqation would be -4+7=3 because 7-4=3
