Answer:

Explanations:

from the given table

The total number of pennies and dimes is 2x

If the total coins in the box is 36, the total quarter coins that are there is 36 - 2x

Convert the coins to dollars

Pennies = 0.01x

Dimes = 0.1x

Quarters = 0.25(36 - 2x)

If the total value if $2.76, hence;

0.01x + 0.1x + 0.25(36 - 2x) = 2.76

Simplify the result to determine the value of x

0.01x + 0.1x + 9 - 0.5x = 2.76

0.11x - 0.5x = 2.76 - 9

-0.39 = - 6.24

x = 6.24/0.39

x = 16

Number of pennies = number of dimes = 16

Number of quarters = 0.25 (36 - 2(16))

Number of quarters = 0.25(36 - 32)

Number of quarters = 0.25(4)

Number of quarters =

Therefore the number of pennies which is also equal to number of dimes is 16

The number of quarters is
