The figure consists of 2 congruent parallelograms with 4 congluent triangles.
Area of each parallelogram = base x height = 4 x 3 = 12 cm^2
Area of each triangle = 1/2 base x height = 1/2 x 2 x 0.25 = 0.25 cm^2

Area of figure = 2(12) + 4(0.25) = 24 + 1 = 25 cm^2

Answer: The correct option is third. The area of the figure is 25 cm square.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that Each small square on the grid is 1 cm².

In the given figure there are 2 congruent parallelograms and 4 congruent triangles. As shown in figure below.

From the figure it is noticed that the length and breadth of the parallelogram is 4 and 3 respectively.

Area of the parallelogram,

A=length* breadth

A=4* 3=12

Area of a parallelogram is 12 cm². So, the area of 2 parallelogram is

12* 2=24

The height of the triangle is 0.25 and the base of the each triangle is 2.

Area of a triangle is,

A=(1)/(2) * base * height

A=(1)/(2) * 2 * 0.25=0.25

Area of one triangle is 0.25 cm², so the area of 4 triangles are 1 cm².

Total Area of the figure is,

Area=24+1=25

Therefore, the total area is 25 cm².

Each small square on the grid is 1 cm². Which estimate best describes the area of-example-1
