35x=245
so you would divide both sides by 35
x=7
so it would take her 7 weeks or 1 month and 3 weeks to pay her friend back

Answer:

An equation of the function that shows the amount Kim owes after x weeks is given by
y=245-35x

The x-intercept is 7.

The y-intercept is 245.

Explanation:

Given : Kim owes her friend $245 and plans to pay $35 per week.

To find : Write an equation of the function that shows the amount Kim owes after x weeks then find the intercepts of the function ?

Solution :

Let 'y' be the amount owed.

Here, 'x' is the number of weeks.

Kim owes her friend $245 and plans to pay $35 per week.

i.e.
y=245-35x

An equation of the function that shows the amount Kim owes after x weeks is given by
y=245-35x

Now, We find the intercepts

x-intercepts when y=0,

0=245-35x

35x=245

x=(245)/(35)

x=7

The x-intercept is 7.

y-intercepts when x=0,

y=245-35(0)

y=245

The y-intercept is 245.
