A
compound sentence is simply a sentence with more than one subject or predicate. To make it even simpler, a compound sentence is two sentences joined by a comma.
Example: Everyone was busy, so I went to the movie alone.
It was getting dark, and we weren't there yet.

A compound sentence is a sentence that has more than one subject or has two independent clauses. The independent clauses are joined by coordinating conjunctions(Ex: for", "and", "yet", "so", and "or")
