What special features of the digestive system of a cow that contribute to the digestion of grass?

For starters, cows have four stomachs, one of these being the Rumen. It is a special stomach where the grass is broken down and it also helps the cow to make milk. That is why cows are in a category for Ruminants, along with sheep, goats, etc.
