I throw a ball upward at 40 m/s what is the acceleration

You'll need to use the formula v2f=v2o+2aΔsvf2=vo2+2aΔs, where v2fvf2 is final velocity squared, v2ovo2 is initial velocity squared, a is acceleration (equal to g), and ΔsΔs is displacement.
