Answer:

The solution of the equation
(x -6)(x + 8) = 0 is 6 and -8.

Explanation:

Given : The equation
(x-6)(x + 8) = 0

We have to find the solution to the given equation
(x -6)(x + 8) = 0

Consider the given equation
(x -6)(x + 8) = 0

Apply zero product rule,
a\cdot b=0 \Rightarrow a=0 \ or \ b=0

Thus,
(x -6)(x + 8) = 0 gives,

(x -6)=0 and
(x + 8) = 0

Simplify, we have,

x=6 and
x=-8

Thus, The solution of the equation
(x -6)(x + 8) = 0 is 6 and -8.

we know that

When a product of two or more terms equals zero, then at least one of the terms must be zero

we have

(x-6)(x+8)=0

We shall solve each term separately

First solution

(x-6)=0

Adds
6 both sides

(x-6)+6=0+6

x=6

Second solution

(x+8)=0

Subtract
8 both sides

(x+8)-8=0-8

x=-8

therefore

the answer is

The solutions are

x=6

x=-8
