Answer:

solution set of the given system is (-5, -8)

Explanation:

The system of the equation has been given as -8x - 7y = 96 -----(1)

and -3x + 5y = -25 -------(2)

Now we multiply equation 1 by 3 and equation 2 by 8

-24x - 21y = 288 ------(3)

-24x + 40y = -200 ------(4)

Now we subtract equation 3 from 4

(-24x + 40y) - (-24x - 21y) = -200 - 288

-24x + 40y + 24x + 21y = -488

61y = -488

y =
-(488)/(61)

y = -8

Now we place y = -8 in the equation (2)

-3x + 5(-8) = -25

-3x - 40 = -25

-3x = 40 - 25

-3x = 15

x = -5

Therefore, solution set of the given system is (-5, -8)
