Compare and contrast the differences between active peer pressure and passive peer pressure.

Answer: Active peer pressure is when others try to persuade you to do something you do not want to do. This includes persuading, teasing, bribing, putting others down, and threats. Passive peer pressure is similar to active because you are being swayed to do something you do not want to do; however, it does not involve manipulating or persuading. It is more subtle.

Active peer pressure is when someone is actively pressuring you do do something

Example: Someone is urging you to drink alcohol at a party

Passive peer pressur is more when you feel you want to 'jump on the bandwagon'

Example: Everyone at the party (underage) is drinking alcohol; and you say 'well, everyone is doing it'....that is passive peer pressure
