Atoms are neutral, meaning the contain the same amount of neutrons and protons.
Ions on the other hand is electrically charged meaning electrons are being removed in order to give it a positive charge or electrons are added to give it a negative charge.

Answer:

Atoms are neutral while Ions are electrically charged

Step-by-step explanation:

An atom can be an ion, but not all ions are atoms. The contrast between an atom and an ion has to do with the net electrical charge. An ion is a particle or combination of particles with a net positive or negative charge. A stable atom comprises the same number of electrons as protons and no net charge i.e atoms are neutral but ions are electrically charged
