Why does a number raised to 0 equal 1 in the Zero Exponent Property?

Because you are not multiplying the number by anything. It's like multiplying 2 x 1.
I hope that made sense ...

The reason why when you raise a number to zero and it equals one is because exponets add when you have the same base. this works for any number that you want to plug in except for x=0 because 0 divide by 0 is indeterminate. So no matter what number you use to raise by zero, It will always equal one. Hope I helped!
