Alan's aunt bake a large loaf and a small loaf od bread. So 3-tenth of a large laof of bread and 3-tenth of small loaf of bread not equal to each other as size of large and small loaf of bread is different.

iSo if we assume 'a' be length of large loaf of bread and 'b' be length of small loaf of bread, then equation is,

`(3)/(10)a+(3)/(10)b=(3)/(10)(a+b)`

So Alan's mistake is that he did not consider the sizes of bread, he consider that size of both bread are equal and add them, but sizes are different so 3-tenth of large bread is not equal to 3-tenth of small bread. These are different quantity so cannot be added and expressed as 6/10.
