You first want to leave your 3y alone so you have to move the -4 to the other side. The simplest way to get rid of it is to add 4 to each side. You now have 98+4=3y or 102=3y. You now wish to leave the y alone so you divide by 3. (102/3=3y/3) That should be equal to 34=x.
