In order to compare the three measurements we will convert all of them to decimals, since the first one is given in mixed fractions while the third is given in an improper fraction.

To convert a mixed fraction to a decimal we need to add the integer part to the division of the numerator and denominator of the fractional part. This is done below:

\begin{gathered} \text{Gilbert = 15}(7)/(10) \\ \text{Gilbert = 15 + }(7)/(10) \\ \text{Gilbert = 15 + 0.7} \\ \text{Gilbert = 15.7} \end{gathered}

To convert the improper fraction to a decimal we need to divide the numerator by the denominator, which is done below:

\begin{gathered} \text{Hoshi = }(77)/(5) \\ \text{Hoshi = }15.4 \end{gathered}

With all the numbers in decimals we can compare them. Gilbert measured 15.7 inches, Tarla measured 15.65 inches and Hoshi measured 15.4 inches. Therfore Gilbert should be on the right, since he is the longest, Tarla should be on the middle and Hoshi should be on the left.
