c)3/10 is the correct answer.

3/8*4/5=12/40

12/40=3/10 or 0.3

we know that

1) Sam had
(4)/(5) yards of yarn

2) Sam used
(3)/(8) of the yarn

so

To calculate how many yards of yarn he used

Multiply
(4)/(5) by
(3)/(8)

(4)/(5) *(3)/(8) =(12)/(40) \ yards

Simplify

Divide by
4 both numerator and denominator

(12)/(40)=((12/4))/((40/4))=(3)/(10)\ yards

therefore

the answer is the option C

(3)/(10)\ yards
