I believe the answer is: The British had obviously a superior naval melee combat force which was better equipped for the challenges at Kipp's bay than had the colonists.

Because of this difference in naval power, the battle of Kip's Was ended in overwhelming victories for the British forces. More than 300 of colonist's army were capture during the war and the rest was ordered by Washington to retreat to new york.

The British had obviously a superior naval melee combat force which was better equipped for the challenges at Kipp's bay than had the colonists. This strongly influenced the outcome between the two powers which were fighting.
