Given the equation :

-4|3x-5|+11=-13

Solve for x:

subtract 11 from both sides

\begin{gathered} -4|3x-5|+11-11=-13-11 \\ \\ -4|3x-5|=-24 \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by ( -4 )

\begin{gathered} (-4|3x-5|)/(-4)=(-24)/(-4) \\ \\ |3x-5|=6 \\ \\ so, \\ 3x-5=\pm6 \\ 3x-5=6\text{ OR 3x-5=-6} \\ 3x-5=6 \\ 3x=6+5 \\ 3x=11 \\ x=(11)/(3) \\ or \\ 3x-5=-6 \\ 3x=-6+5 \\ 3x=-1 \\ x=-(1)/(3) \\ \\ x=(11)/(3)OR-(1)/(3) \end{gathered}

so, the answer is x = {11/3 , -1/3 }
