Maddy has 2 times as many stickers as meg. They have a total of 15 combined. How many does maddy have ?

This is the process I would use:

Maddy's = 2x 2x+x=15
Meg's = x 3x=15
x=5

Since Maddy's is 2x, multiply the 5 times 2 and you find that Maddy has 10 stickers.
