Factory employees worked 6 days a week.

In the 1800s, people in manufacturing area used to work about a hundred hours per week: between ten and sixteen hour shifts over six-day workweeks. Labor unions were the most important early supporters of the eight-hour workday in the United States. Ford's employees used to be working forty-eight hours a week: eight-hour days and six-day weeks.
