A tiny space inside another computer chip has been measured to be 3.5 x 10-7 meters wide, 1.8 x 10-8 meters long, and 6.45 x 10-5 meters high. What is its volume?

Use the following formula for the volume:

V = w*l*h

where,

w: width of the chip = 3.5*10^-7 m

l: length of the chip = 1.8*10^-8 m

h: height of the chip = 6.45*10^-5 m

Replace the previous values of the parameters into the formula for V and simplify (consider to multiply coeeficients and then exponential factors):

\begin{gathered} V=(3.5\cdot10^(-7)m)(1.8\cdot10^(-8)m)(6.45\cdot10^(-5)m) \\ V=(3.5\cdot1.8\cdot6.45)(10^(-7)\cdot10^(-8)\cdot10^(-5)m^3) \\ V=40.635\cdot10^(-20)m^3 \\ V=4.0635\cdot10^(-19)m^3\approx4.1\cdot10^(-19)m^3 \end{gathered}

Hence, the volume of the chip is approximately 4.1*10^-19 m^3
