slope intercept form : y = mx + b

the slope is represented by m....so m = -5
the y intercept is represented by b....so b = -1

now we sub
y = mx + b
y = -5x + (-1) or y = -5x - 1 <===

First, we need to know what is the general equation of the slope-intercept form. It is expressed as follows:

y = mx + b

where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Therefore, having a slope of -5 and a y-intercept of -1, the equation of the line should be:

y = -5x - 1
