(x - 4)(x + 3) = x^2 + 3x - 4x - 12 = x^2 - x - 12

In order to simplify the product, multiply the factors by taking the term in the first factor and multiplying it to every term in the second factor. Then take the second term in the first factor and multiply it to every term in the second factor. Add all terms and the correct answer is
x^2 - x -12
