We know that baleen whales weigh between 6000 to 8000 lbs at birth.

We are expected to mathematically depict this range.

We'll use the less than/equal to symbol to depict this mathematically.

Let w represent its weight.

\begin{gathered} w\ge6000lb\text{ or }6000lb\leq w \\ w\leq8000lb \\ \text{Uniting this to one inequality gives:} \\ 6000\leq w\leq8000 \end{gathered}

Filtering our options, we get to see that:

|7000 - w| < 1000

Because when w is subsituted with values between 6000 and 8000 and subtracted from 7000, the absolute value is always less than 1000.
