Answer: The correct answer is a. A neutral solution

Explanation: When an acid reacts with base, it produces salt and water and this reaction is known as Neutralization reaction.

Equation for neutralization reaction:

HX+BOH\rightarrow BX+H_2O

When a stronger acid reacts with a weaker base, then the salt will the salt of stronger acid and the final solution will be acidic in nature.

When a stronger base and a weaker acid reacts, the salt produced will be a salt of stronger base and the final solution will be basic in nature.

When an acid and a base of equal strength will react, the salt produced will be neither acidic nor basic in nature and the final solution will be neutral in nature.

Hence, the correct answer is a.

If the strength of the base and acid is EXACTLY the same/equal, the result would be: A. a neutral solution
That is why we used a base based medicine to treat our acid reflux because it will bring back the condition of our stomach into its neutral state

hope this helps
