The product of

\begin{gathered} 4z^2+7z-8 \\ by \\ -z+3 \end{gathered}

is

(4z^2+7z-8)(-z+3)=4z^2\cdot(-z)+7z\cdot(-z)-8\cdot(-z)+4z^2\cdot3+7z\cdot3-8\cdot3

doing the respective products, we have

(4z^2+7z-8)(-z+3)=-4z^3-7z^2+8z+12z^2+21z-24

by combining similar terms, we obtain

(4z^2+7z-8)(-z+3)=-4z^3+5z^2+29z-24
